It’s a dark and cold Friday night and after a long and busy week I’m feeling a little frazzled. The temperature outside has dropped and tomorrow’s weather forecast is predicting heavy snow.
At times like these, I like to revisit photographs that remind me of slightly warmer and more relaxed times. My favourites remind me of beautiful and serene places that I have been privileged to visit and some wonderful experiences with some of my favourite people…
The view of the Italian landscape from Pompeii, 2012
The Seine and the Eiffel Tower, Paris 2010. The Bloke and I sat by the river and watched the sunset
The sunset from the train home after spending the weekend with Mum
A day spent at the spa with my friend, who had generously bought me a pampering session for my birthday
Alexandria, near Washington D.C., 2010
Hope you all have a relaxing Friday night!

amazing
Thank you!
lovely, thank you for the great photographs
These pictures are just amazing. Sometimes I like to imagine that I’m looking at them through a window and can step right outside as well.
Thanks Martha!
Great pictures!
Thanks very much Amanda!
Love all these photos! I do the same when the weather is cold and nasty. It’s so nice to have those memories to revisit. I hope you find some coziness and serenity this weekend!
xo
Thanks my lovely! Hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend!
Love your photos. They definitely brought me a few moments of calm looking at them 😊
Thank you! Really pleased you liked them!
Beautiful pictures, but I am actually jealous of your snow forecast!!!
Thank you as always! The report has changed and we’re now expecting it on Tuesday and Wednesday instead. Unfortunately, that means that the whole country is likely to shut down for a day or two – we’re totally unequipped to deal with it!
Our schools closed for a day this past week when it was a little icy early in the morning. Talk about unprepared! Hope it’s not too crazy there.
Reblogged this on Everyday Amazing Stories.
Thank you for reblogging!
Great pictures. Stay snuggled up by a fire with the Bloke this weekend. It was in the 60s here in Kansas today. I like those temps, but I know it won’t last. It is still winter and I hear we are in for big snows in February. 🙂
Thank you! We were predicted snow today but the report has changed and even though it’s cold the sun is out…
It is always good to see the sun. I really brightens my day! It is colder today than yesterday, but still up in the 50s. Cold only because of the 20mph winds. But, much, much better than it has been. Glad you didn’t get your snow. Unless of course you wanted it. 🙂
Those are some very beautiful pictures.
Thanks my lovely!
Love the pictures! You’re just like me. I spend all winter using sunset pictures as my screen savers and wallpapers to keep my spirits up.
Thanks Phil! I hate the cold – I think I need to move to the Med somewhere…
Alexandria was one of my favorite places. My boyfriend and I had the best time- it’s where we fell in love nearly four years ago
Aww that’s lovely! We got stranded in DC for two weeks in 2010 and visited there for the day. It was beautiful!
It looks like you’ve been to some fab places, very interesting post!
Thanks! I’ve been very lucky…
It was an interesting little trip you took us on today
Thanks Greg!
Lovely relaxing photos, I’d love to be sat in a spa today! And what a beautiful sunset!
Thank you – me too! There’s an offer on at the same spa so I am looking forward to going again!
Gorgeous photos! What lovely memories you must have.
Thank you! I’ve certainly been very lucky!
