Me, Myself and I #6

As a further opportunity to share a little about yourself and find out about your fellow bloggers, here is the sixth installment of ‘Me, Myself and I,’ a weekly collaboration I have started with the lovely Sare over at Diary of a Teachaholic. For further information about the link up, simply click here.

It’s Sare’s turn to ask the questions this week…

1. Name 5 things on your bucket list.

  • Learn sign language. It’s been on my bucket list since I was a teenager and is something I have always wanted to do, but never seemed to have got round to it. I was very excited when I discovered that Mel, over at Melissa Barker-Simpson is a sign-language interpreter!
  • Complete the Birmingham Half Marathon.
  • Spend $2 in a Las Vegas casino.
  • Sit and admire the view over the Grand Canyon.
  • See an outdoor screening of a film.

2. What was your favourite toy when growing up?

It has to be the She-Ra Princess of Power Palace. I loved it and would spend hours playing with my He-Man and She-Ra action figures. My mother sold it in a car boot sale when I was in my teens. I wish she hadn’t – it would have been worth a fortune now!

3. What are your top 3 blogs that you follow?

I couldn’t name a top three. I only follow about 200, but I follow them all for different reasons.

4. What would be your dream job?

Definitely a full-time writer. It’s been a recent realisation and I’m working hard towards achieving it – if someone had told me five years ago that this would be the direction my life was heading I probably would have laughed at them.

5. If you hadn’t started blogging, what would you be doing instead?

I have no idea, but I know that I wouldn’t be teaching. I dread to think where I would be mentally – I started the blog as a form of therapy as I was in a mess – and it has proven to be the best from of therapy I’ve ever had.

What about you guys? Would you like to answer these questions?

  1. Here’s hoping you get to complete all five things on your bucket list. Lovely to learn so much more about you x

  2. Great bucket list! I’ve always wanted to see an outdoors screening… It looks so awesome in the movies! Whether the reality would match the image I have in my head…I’m not so sure!

Great to learn more about you. Every time I read these, I realise we have loads in common! Perhaps it’s a British/writer kinda thing? Spending 2k in Las Vegas though! …I couldn’t!

  3. I love it and will participate today! I’ve done 4 out of 5 on your bucket list. I doubt I will ever run the half marathon though haha! I can only spell in sign language and it’s easy to learn. I learned at 5 and still remember. Actually I used to talk to the deaf kids that way because I felt bad they had no one to talk to and they really appreciate the effort! I think that’s a lovely thing you would like to learn 🙂

    • Thanks my lovely! We do this series every week so you’re very welcome to participate! That was a kind thing to do – I can only sign ,y name so it wouldn’t have got me very far!

  5. #1: First thing on my dream bucket list: take my husband and 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 4 grandchildren on a big vacation, maybe a cruise. Ten days of being with the people I love most in the world. It’s also numbers 2, 3, 4, and 5 on my list.
#4: Late in life I realized I wanted to become a chaplain. My mother has Alzheimer’s, and everyday I see the need for spiritual guidance and affirmation. mostly for the families of those affected. I’d like to be able to offer solace and guidance to those who need to know how to handle the grievous problems associated with this disease. I want to offer services for free, not for income. But I discovered that this is a master’s program requiring about 15 classes at about $1500 per class, and then 6 months of field work. Takes most people several years to accomplish and I don’t have that long nor the funds. Wish I’d pursued this avenue decades ago. So, the next #4 is to have my 3 books published, and I’m still aiming for traditional publication. I will be published one day.
I love your She-Ra doll infatuation, Suzie. Mine was a Ginny doll – decades older than you, you probably don’t even know what she is!
    I’m in dream mode today.

  6. My bucket list has a hole at the moment, I really never want another job if it involves an employer, but my fav toy was a corgi model of the Astom Martin D B 5 James Bond car from Goldfinger days, circa 1964. It had an ejector seat, revolving numberplates and rockets that fired out the back. Bliss. It too was sold at a jumble sale in the late 1970s.*sobs*

    • Oh no, my mum had one of those too! She told me that she had the original Thunderbirds and Star Wars sets and she gave them all to her goddaughter! She could have retired now haha!
I am still at the stage where I have an employer (or three now I’m freelance), but I’d like to be my own boss someday!

  7. I miss teaching! But blogging helps! I had to laugh at She-Ra Princess of Power. My son, who is now a buff Army Officer, used to play She-Ra while his friend Michael was He-Man when they were 3 or 4. He still gets teased. They both had He-Man pajamas!
