If We Were Having Coffee #14

imageCoffee posts are normally saved for the weekend, but a conversational post is exactly what’s needed today.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve had a busy week. The first part of the Summer Term has started, and the students are now moving into exam mode. If I’m being honest, I was dreading it – the last week before the Easter holidays was challenging as the both the students and staff were tired, and I was expecting frayed tempers and double to usual eye-rolls when we came back as this is the most stressful part of the year for many. However, it’s been calm and relaxed, the students have worked hard, and I’ve been greeted with smiling faces and enquiries about my holiday. I’ve covered a diverse amount of subjects, from maths, science, history and geography, to English, food technology and travel and tourism, and I’ve witnessed a rather surprising amount of highly intelligent conversations amongst them. Within the older classes, I’ve been really impressed by their tolerant opinions, and they’ve taught me a thing or two – not a bad way to spend the week!

However, this has ultimately meant that my blogging activities have decreased, and I am desperately looking forward to making some sort of attempt to catch up on all my favourite blogs and social media link-ups. Indeed, the more time I spend in the blogosphere, the more I see just how much is shared in such a short space of time – it’s fascinating.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that, at the minute at least, life is good. I’ve started to try and be more mindful in the way that I look at each day, and focus on the positive. I wrote a list down of everything that is coming up too, and I have an awful lot of things to look forward to – a holiday in Scotland, food festivals, karaoke, a few bloggy events, and, of course, the Annual Bloggers Bash in June. I already have my hotel and train tickets booked, and The Bloke and I have decided to make a long weekend of it. I’m particularly looking forward to catching up with bloggy friends that I haven’t seen since last August – and this time I won’t be meeting them for the first time so I’m much less nervous about it!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I had an enormous response to my Guest Post Blogiversary competition across the blog, Facebook and Twitter, so it has taken me a little while to work through all of the entries. I initially thought that I would do a single space, being able to find someone who had an idea that stood out and tied in with my general blog theme. However, each idea (and blogger) was a good one, so I’ve decided to do three guest post spots instead. After a few days of getting a bit stressed about it, I decided to choose the winners scientifically, by getting The Bloke to pull the names out of a hat.

And the winners are:

Susie Lindau, from Susie’s Wild Ride

Ben, from Ben’s Bitter Blog

Judy, from Edwina’s Episodes

Congratulations to them, and I will be contacting them this week to arrange their guest posts!

What about you guys? If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

  1. Hi, Suzie.:) If we were having coffee I would tell you how exhausted I am but trying not to have total melt down and not give into temptation like cake! I would tell you that I’m pulling my head left and right as I’m struggling with writing my novel but weird enjoying the journey and the lessons. If I we were coffee, I would share my excitement for the month of may and I would tell you why. And finally if we were having coffee it would fair to say ‘I don’t drink coffee but tea is just as fine’ and I would probably have cake (yep, I dream of cake!) Congrats to the winners btw! 🙂

  2. Hi Girly!!!

If we were having coffee…..it would turn into wine and I have a feeling we’d end up at some karaoke bar singing “wild wild west” by the Escape Club.

I’m so happy to hear that things are going well, as you know I’ve been keeping busy, revamping my blog and submerging myself into amazing stories 🙂

Girl….i’m over the moon excited that you are attending the blogger event, it’s going to be so much fun….I can’t wait to read all about it! Will you be on a panel? you should be. You need to come out this way for a blogger event, how much fun would that be!!

    Love ya!!

    • Hi lovely!!! Please forgive the late reply! I really wish we were drinking coffee – we’d be there for hours! We’ve got a speaker from WordPress coming, so that will be exciting! I’ll send you pics on the day!

  3. If we were having coffee i would say very similar things to you. I have been extremely busy after attending a weekend with Dr Sondra Barrett who talked about the Secrets of Our Cells. It re-ignited my passion for my job as a Vitalistic Chiropractor. I also met some amazing and inspirational people at that weekend, and as a result I am going to be doing more aromatherapy in the future, so I have been investigating new oils, and writing about them as aprt of the AtoZChallenge. Can I get you another cup, and a piece of cake to go with it? Blessings Joy

  4. If we were having coffee I’d tell you that yesterday I took an unplanned detour home yesterday after work which ended up driving through the mountains.

  5. Wonderful, upbeat post, Suzie, a pleasure to read about everything working well for you. Congrats to your Guest Blog winners – really like the scientific method by which you chose them. I used to tell my students that I graded them by marking a staircase with grades, throwing down their projects, and marking the grade number on which their project landed. Fortunately they all knew I was kidding – the advantage of working with high school kids.

I’m looking forward to entering a writing opportunity that will keep me busy for two years should I be selected. Don’t want to talk about it until I know more, like whether or not I’ve been accepted. Won’t find out till August and I’ll write about the experience then, no matter the results.

Coffee was tasty today. Be well.

  6. I am glad everything is going nicely for you. I just got to the end and saw that I had won a guest spot on your blog. That has really made my day! Thanks so much to you and The Bloke! 🙂

  7. If we were having coffee I would tell you I had a busy week, and I feel like I could sleep for days! I’m glad you’re doing well. Congrats for finding three guest post winners – I think the scientific approach is inspired 😉 I’ll look forward to reading those.

  8. Wow!!!! Thanks so much, Suzie! I’m super stoked.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’ve been spending a lot of time researching, writing, and querying a book. I had a blast skiing last weekend and I’m looking forward to spending time outside now that it’s warming up in Boulder!
    Happy Spring!

  9. If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m stressed out. I’m seriously debating meeting with a counselor, even though the idea makes me itch. I do mean this literally, actually; the psoriasis I used to suffer has flared up because of some of the things going on.
