The Bloke Proposed Today…

I had a very different post planned for today. I’m in Scotland with The Bloke for the week, and I spent some time last night preparing a post that showed all the different photographs I took on the nine hour drive it took to get here (it’s a lot more interesting than it sounds, I promise). It was sitting in my drafts folder, ready for me to press publish the next day.

However, The Bloke and I visited Dunnotar Castle this morning. It was an absolutely glorious day, and I sat on the cliff top opposite while he adopted his inner David Bailey and went around taking pictures of everything. It had rained the night before, so the grass was still a bit wet and I had borrowed The Bloke’s spare t-shirt to sit on while I was waiting for him to finish. It was a truly spectacular view, and he had put his bags and camera paraphernalia next to me to look after.

He eventually walked over and stood next to me, asking me what I thought of the place. I told him that we could forget the rest of the holiday, I was staying here for the rest of the week as it was one of the most amazing things I’d seen in a while. He then started rummaging around in his camera bag and before I knew it he had pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee, presented me with a beautiful ring and proposed.

I cried and snorted an ‘of course I will’ at him, then cried some more… It couldn’t have been more perfect – we were alone, on a cliff top, overlooking a stunning castle on the coast of Scotland. Beautiful. I would show you the pics I took directly afterwards but it’s not a pretty sight – there’s mascara everywhere.

However, here’s the view…

And here’s the ring…

I’m a very lucky lady indeed…

  13. Congratulations on your wonderful engagement, Suzie & the Bloke. The ring is beautiful…no doubt like the sparkle in your eyes when the Bloke proposed.
Well done, Bloke for choosing such a scenic, perfectly romantic setting. It rained on Valentine’s Day 2001 when Geoff proposed to me after giving me an electric car sander for Valentine’s Day. That was all a joke because everyone in both our offices were expecting a proposal. I felt shattered!! Instead of going somewhere flash, we ran to the Thai restaurant next door with orange laminate tables but excellent food and there was a chat. He officially proposed to me, however, in my parents’ driveway where we’d sat and talked in his Austen Healey Sprite until sunrise and that’s when the penny started to drop that this was more than friends.
You said I leave interesting comments. Didn’t want to disappoint!
    Congratulations once again!
    xx Rowena
