After being indoors for what seems like forever, I took today off. I love what I do, but after 12 consecutive days I needed a bit of me time. As the weather was glorious this morning I decided to make an effort and do things that make me happy, so I had a hot bath, spent time doing my hair and make-up, got the bus into Birmingham and had a wander round my favourite stationery places, treating myself to more washi tape, some flat lay props and a new notebook for a project I’m starting.
I met up with one of my favourite people for lunch – Shelley Wilson from Motivate Me – and we went to Bacchus Bar. Sitting in enormous chairs that made us look like we were perching on thrones (yes, you may now refer to us as Her Brummie Highnesses), and indulging in a lovely scampi and chips, we talked and talked and laughed and talked and laughed some more. And now my face hurts from all the smiling I did.
Sometimes, it’s important to take a break and spend time with people who lift your soul… and then go eat some scampi and buy some washi tape (or wasabi tape as Shelley calls it). Laughter, washi tape and scampi always makes everything better.
Sounds like a fab day! So important to have “me” time. I’ll probably be in my 60s when that next happens for me 😏
We’ll go out when I come down to have baby cuddles… As long as you’re prepared to have her back when she needs a nappy change haha!
Yes – don’t worry I wouldn’t put you through that!!! 🙂
Sounds like a lovely day!!!
It was awesome haha!
😊
Okay, what is washi tape (or wasabi)? Fun to have lunch with Shelley!
It’s essentially coloured masking tape that can be used for all sorts of things, but I use it in my bullet journal… Totally obsessed haha!
lol wasabi tape would be a good name for it. Especially if you bought green colours!
It’s great you had a pleasant day off Suzie! Welcome back to blogland today!
Haha! Yeah – I now need to go and buy some green colours! What a great excuse!
I couldn’t have said it better myself! Taking a time out is one of my favourite things to do. When that involves side splitting giggles, scampi, and a quick splurge in Waterstones then it’s been a productive day. P.s: my face hurts too 😂😂
Haha! Thanks for being so entertaining – I was completely uplifted after verbally vomiting everything out at you haha!
I agree, and the Bacchuss bar is a great place to have fun in 💜💜💜
It certainly is! When we walked it we were almost the first ones there so it was really strange to see it so quiet!
Was it a little errie?
It was – we weren’t sure whether it was open at first!
That’s a strange feeling isn’t it, then you see it slowly fill up. 💜
It certainly is – although it didn’t get particularly busy which was nice!
Excellent 🌹
Ohhhh scampi I haven’t had that for years…and yes a day of doing girly things is good 🙂 guaranteed to cheer us up 🙂
Definitely… And you can’t ever go wrong with scampi too haha!
Love the washi tape, Suzie! And who doesn’t love food, drink and laughter with a good friend? Glad you had a day that made your face hurt. 🙂
Haha! Thanks! It was a very much needed day!
i agree with you suzie, a woman and a mother never get enough of some me time.
Absolutely!
suzie I add my twitter usename to my blog.
Great!
I agree suzie, winter must go already, i am ready to wear nice clothes without too many layers . I am ready for spring.
Oh yes me too – I hate it when it’s all dark and depressing!
i hope that within the next two months it gets a little better.
Nothing is better than laughing with friends.
Agreed! Always makes a day better!
