I’ve Been Shortlisted!

It’s the start of a new day, new week and new month and the weather is glorious. As always, I know it is going to be busy over the next few weeks, but there’s something about the beginning of a month that feels incredibly motivating, even if I’m still tired from the day before…

I had some amazing news on Friday. Last month I discovered that I had been nominated for Blogger of the Year at the Birmingham Awards, with the shortlist of finalists to be announced at the end of September. I honestly didn’t expect anything would come of it – those of you who follow the blog regularly will know that I love my adopted city (having lived here for 17 years now) and write about what I experience in and around Birmingham within many of my posts, but as I don’t have a specific niche dedicated to it like many of those who have been shortlisted in previous years I didn’t think I would make it past the first round. I nervously kept checking the website on the announcement day, my heart beating out of my chest when I saw the link appear…

… and I’ve been shortlisted!

Oh. My.

This means that I am one of five finalists in my category who get to attend an awards evening at the end of November. It’s predominantly black tie – something I’ve never been to before – so I have some time to buy a new dress, and I get to see The Bloke in a tux. That’s definitely a winner.

Voting closes on the 19th October. If you’d like to give me a cheeky vote it would be very much appreciated! The link is here and I’m in Category 16 so some scrolling is needed.

You don’t have to vote for any other categories (although if you’re based in the Midlands then I’m sure you’ll find some brilliant nominees that you’ll know and love. A name and email address is required to vote, but no other information…

I’ll also be pinning this post at the top of my Twitter page, so if you would also like to retweet it that would be amazing too!

Happy October!
