We celebrate Veteran’s day in the states. It is said that the greatest enemy during WWI was the virulent flu. That is what killed my paternal grandmother in 1918.
Oh wow – I never knew that! That’s not something that is ever really mentioned!
Iām on a ship right now and last night there was a Veteran sitting behind me. We all shook his hand and thanked him, and it was clear from his face how much it meant to him.
Aww that’s lovely! The same thing happened when i was on a train home on Monday – a man who was wearing his medals had obviously been to London for the service and parade, and loads of people shook his hand and thanked him… Almost made me tear up!
