I love a good spa day, so when I received an invite to go to the newly refurbished Club and Spa at the Cube I jumped at the chance to see what updates have been made to one of my favourite places to relax in the city.
Located in The Mailbox, one of the most exclusive areas of Birmingham, The Club and Spa is part of The Cube complex, and the spa area has recently undergone a £500,000 transformation. In addition to the pool (complete with a waterfall, jets and kelo sauna areas) and a gym with personal trainers, the half-million pound refurbishment means that spa now has an even more extensive range of treatments and relaxation areas.
We were initially shown to Marco Pierre White’s Bardolino restaurant, part of the Club and Spa, and greeted with smoothie shots, healthy canapes and prosecco with strawberries before we were taken on a tour. I like the restaurant – it’s light and welcoming, the food has always been fresh and well presented and it’s a great place for a light bite in the middle of a spa day.
I’ve been to the Club and Spa on several occasions with friends, and it was immediately obvious how much work had gone into the transformation of the spa area. Further treatment rooms have been added, along with an extension to the relaxation areas with further loungers and hanging cocoons. I tried one and it was indeed relaxing – with the atmospheric lighting and starry ceiling they provide a cosy and comforting place to sit back and unwind. Two traditional Arabian Rasul mud-based rooms have been added which use steam, heat and mud to relax and detox the body. I liked the little touches that had been made throughout, including the new art work, lighting and flower wall, and I loved the updated waiting area with bright upholstery and beautiful flowers.
The Spa has teamed up with Elemis to offer numerous treatments, including BIOTECH facials, body wraps and range of different massages. I was offered the chance to experience one of the treatments available, and so I opted for a head and shoulder massage. Soft towels, calming music and an incredible massage later, it was clear that I need to book in for a much longer session – my upper back and neck are in a mess – and my therapist was incredibly helpful in explaining and recommending suitable Elemis products and treatments that may be suitable to make this easier. She was so good that she was lucky that I didn’t fall asleep on the treatment table, and I felt so much better afterwards.
The Spa also offers nail care from Leighton Denny, waxing services with Lycon, and their own signature range of treatments and massages to choose from within a set of packages ranging from single sessions and individual treatments, day access with lunch or dinner included at Bardolino and for an entire weekend.
Looking for a place to unwind and relax? The Club and beautifully refurbished Spa is a brilliant was to spend some well-deserved ‘me’ time. Check out all of the treatments and packages available at The Club and Spa here!

Disclaimer: I was invited to review the new facilities available at The Spa, but was under no obligation to provide a positive review. It’s a tough life, but someone has to do it!
I’m not sure I’d ever get into the mud after I watched one episode of CSI Las Vegas where one of the victims was found dead in a mud sauna and the CSI techs had to filter the mud to look for evidence. The stuff they found in that mud was disgusting. I won’t mention what the CSI actors found in the mud because that might cause a severe reaction like shock and passing out.
Do they run the mud through a filter to keep it clean?
Haha! Thanks for that imagery Lloyd!
Those hanging cocoons look interesting 🙂
They were so fun – somewhere I could quite easily stay all day!
Looks pretty amazing xx
Yeah it’s beautiful!
Sounds like a great place to chill. Those healthy canapés look delicious 🙂
They really were! I tested a few of them just to make sure they were nice 😉
That pool looks heavenly! And I think Elemis is used by one of the cruise ship lines I’ve been on–it smells so good!
I’ve used Elemis stuff before and it smells so nice! I love the Frangipane stuff…
Sounds like a lot of time and effort has been invested in improving the spa. There’s nothing quite like a good massage is there?
Totally – I’m looking forward to going and getting another one haha!
I’ve been toiling away in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and I’ve never received bugger all for it where perks are considered.
Good job, Suzie!
Thanks lovely!
