In an effort to inject some positivity into my daily mindset and the online world I have created a Daily Gratitude Challenge and I am inviting everyone to participate. If you have missed my introductory post that explains the challenge and maps out the daily post schedule, visit here.
Day 9 is all about the things you are looking forward to. I love planning, particularly when it involves organising a trip or an experience, but 2020 has seemingly had other ideas, not only by highlighting how much I have to be grateful for, but it has made me look at how many things to look forward to in the future that I would normally have taken for granted.
Things I Am Looking Forward To
Being able to jump on a train and give my mum a hug. The last time I saw her in person was at the beginning of March when I surprised her and took her out for lunch, and then we had a wander to Emmeline Pankhurst’s house in the sun – as you do. She works for the NHS in a hospital and it has been a worrying time.
Hugs. Lots of hugs.
Meeting up with friends. Catching up on what is going on within our lives is always uplifting – Zoom isn’t the same.
Date night. The Bloke are extremely lucky in that we are given lots of opportunities to experience things in and around the city, and we always make a date night of it. Going to a restaurant, trying out new cocktails, seeing new movies – getting back to loving the city I’ve been a part of for 20 years.
I am desperately looking forward to the theatres reopening, not just to see the shows but because some of my friends have lost their jobs.
My friend’s wedding. She had to postpone her wedding this year and so I look forward to finally seeing her walk down the aisle, looking absolutely stunning in her dress. I know, because I’ve seen it – we went dress shopping at the beginning of the year.
Being able to walk down the street without having to cross the road at least 60 times to avoid those who are walking towards you, or avoiding anyone who is standing a little too close, or glaring at someone who isn’t wearing a mask.
Trips away. The Bloke and I often try and go away for a break a few times a year. I look forward to planning and experiencing those in the future.
Routine. With so much uncertainty, I’m looking forward to a sense of structure and routine.
