In an effort to inject some positivity into my daily mindset and the online world I have created a Daily Gratitude Challenge and I am inviting everyone to participate. If you have missed my introductory post that explains the challenge and maps out the daily post schedule, visit here.
Day 19 of the Daily Gratitude Challenge is all about your home. What is it about your home that you are grateful for?
What I Am Grateful For
I don’t own my home – The Bloke and I have rented for years – but we’ve lived in our current property for quite a while. We were lucky to find it – after 6 months of living in our previous house and having to deal with damp walls our charlatan landlady suddenly decided that she was going to sell and we were told we needed to move out, and we managed to find our current house in 48 hours.
It isn’t going to be featured in Homes and Gardens anytime soon, but it is comfortable. Our landlord is lovely, generally leaves us alone except when he is doing the annual gas check and charges us extremely reasonable rent. It is warm, clean and dry, damp free, relatively safe and our neighbours are great people who we get along with really well.
Material items don’t really have much of a significance in how we live. For me, my absolute favourite time of the week is Friday night – The Bloke and I order food in, curl up on the couch with the cat and watch a film. In the winter we get the blankets out. On Sundays I usually cook a roast dinner and we curl up on the couch and watch a film (there’s a lot of eating and film watching). This is what makes my home… home – the family within it. I’m very lucky.

I’m so glad for you that your landlord is decent. The landlord next to my Dads acts like it’s up to the tenants to do EVERYTHING. Talk of roast dinners and blankets is making me long for Autumn. 😊
We’ve dealt with some really awful landlords before this one (aside from one who was brilliant) so we’re really lucky! I like Autumn too – particularly when the leaves start to turn!
