⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ A true modern classic of musical theatre!
The Book of Mormon, the smash-hit musical by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, has taken the West End by storm and is now embarking on a UK tour, arriving on stage at The Alexandra Theatre for the festive season.
The story follows two young Mormon missionaries, Elder Price (Adam Bailey) and Elder Cunningham (Sam Glen), who are sent to a remote Ugandan village to spread their faith. What ensues is a hilariously exaggerated culture clash, as the naive missionaries attempt to reconcile their idealistic beliefs with the harsh realities faced by the local community.

The performances are exceptional. Sam Glen as Elder Cunningham brings a perfect mix of charm and comedic timing, with his quirky antics providing constant laughs, while Adam Bailey’s portrayal of Elder Price’s journey from self-righteousness to humility adds a layer of depth. Nyah Nish as Nabulungi is a delight, delivering a performance full of innocence and optimism with stunning vocal ability. The ensemble cast is equally brilliant, showcasing sharp choreography and impressive vocals throughout.
The music, a blend of Broadway-style numbers and cheeky parody, is a highlight. Songs like Hello! and I Believe are as catchy as they are witty, and even the more provocative numbers, such as Hasa Diga Eebowai, manage to be both shocking and hilarious.
The production values are top-notch, with vibrant sets and costumes that complement the show’s over-the-top style. Despite its comedic nature, the musical doesn’t shy away from addressing serious themes, offering a surprisingly poignant commentary on faith, hope, and human connection.

The Book of Mormon is not for the easily offended. Its humour is deliberately provocative, often crossing into taboo territory. However, for those who appreciate satirical comedy, it’s a masterclass in pushing boundaries while remaining wildly entertaining. With its irreverent humour, razor-sharp satire, and surprisingly heartfelt moments, it is a bold, audacious production that walks a fine line between comedy and controversy, but it does so with an infectious energy that leaves audiences in stitches.
The Book of Mormon is a must-see for fans of bold, intelligent theatre. It’s outrageously funny, cleverly written, and performed with passionate enthusiasm and energy – a true modern classic of musical theatre.
I’m hoping a touring company will come here with this! I want to see it!
Totally worth it!
Missed press night last night due to being exhausted from our Poland trip but I’ve already booked to take Pa Lee a little later in December for his belated birthday present! I’ve seen it before so looking forward to his reaction 😂
Aww I love Pa Lee! Did he enjoy it?
