About

This is a current snapshot of my life. I have always enjoyed writing and have hundreds of small notebooks cluttering up the house, so in April 2013 I felt that the obvious solution was to start a blog.

Since then, Suzie Speaks has grown beyond all expectations. I love the people and the community and I’m not being melodramatic when I say it has been the best form of therapy I have ever had. It has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined and I was able to leave my job and work as a blogger and Social Media Manager full-time.

My posts reflect my mood and experiences and cover topics ranging from books, film, thoughts, daily life, teaching, friendship, relationships, things I find amusing, my adventures around my beloved city of Birmingham and my travel experiences. I blog about my life, my loves, my family and friends.

I’m a thirty – seven year old former teacher from England. I live with The Bloke – my fiance (and a very patient man) who has been my partner-in-crime for a very long time… and our elderly cat. I am in the process of changing my life and becoming self-employed and I am gradually figuring out what I should be doing with my time.

There are several pages that you may find interesting and can be found in the menu.

Blogging Tips: While I have only been in the blogosphere for a few years (yes, I’m using that word), I have included a few hints and tips that I have learned that may be useful. You’ll be able to find posts on everything from increasing your traffic, comments and likes, to self-censorship, recycling content and using social media groups.

Birmingham Reviews: An overview of places, restaurants, cocktail bars and experiences in my adopted city!

Social Media Management: A break down of my Social Media Management options for bloggers who need a social media boost!

Sponsorship: Want to sponsor Suzie Speaks? There are several different packages you can purchase, from monthly sponsorship, ‘Blog of the Day’ and hosting blog parties.

  1. Thanks so very much for liking my post on Tide Line Still Life. I, too, am an educator, and appreciate the sense of curiosity that is woven through your blog. Best, Maggie

  2. I’ve nominated you for some awards. You inspire me to be a better blogger. If your blog is an Award Free Blog, please accept my well-meaning thoughts and appreciation for the great job that you do. Thanks!

  3. Thanks for stopping by my little blog and for liking “Drum Roll Please…” – your blog looks to be very interesting and I look forward to reading more as time permits. Thanks again – and good luck with the move!

  4. I saw you Liked me and thought I’d see if I Liked you back, and I do! Kind of weird, your writing sounds like me doing my usual stream of consciousness… And like you, I write about what I’m thinking rather than consciously stick to any particular subject. Anyway, I’m enjoying what you have to say. Keep it up. KC

  5. Thanks for reading the Peaky Blinders post Suzie, I like it when Birmingham-dwellers stop by – even if I’m just writing about bad haircuts. I’ll be sure to peruse some more of your posts. Take care 🙂

      • English: freshmen and AP Senior Literature currently. Having played in middle school band I respect your chosen path. We drove one band teacher to the point of quitting. I hope your students are better behaved. Of course, it wasn’t those quiet flautists, like myself, who were making trouble.
