I have visited Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill a number of times over the years, and even had the opportunity to interview the man himself back in 2019. I like it – it has always been a place to visit for spectacular views of the city and a nice cocktail in a relaxed atmosphere. I’m a big fan of several of the dishes – my favourite dessert in Birmingham was the Chocolate Mousse from MPW.
However, the prestigious restaurant, situated on Level 25 of the Cube, has recently undergone a refurbishment, and we were offered the chance to have a sneak peak at the new changes and get a taste of the new menu. As I was unable to attend, I sent a friend in my place to have a look…
… and he loved it. I asked him to give me his thoughts on everything he was able to try.
“We were lucky to be taken to a window-side table, overlooking the Birmingham city skyline that even an overcast February weather couldn’t spoil. The glass walls and 360 degree panoramic views of Marco’s are perhaps one of the restaurants’ biggest selling points and it’s easy to see why. We enjoyed the view and tucked into fresh bread and olives, and tried house mocktails – non-alcoholic takes on a classic cocktail menu, offering up some crisp and fruity refreshments.
For our first course was a selection of starters: smoked salmon garnished with capers and gherkins and served with brown bread and butter, beetroot and goat’s cheese salad in a merlot vinegar, topped with walnuts, and finally crispy battered calamari with tartare sauce and fresh lemon. All three of these dishes were beautifully prepared and presented, and thoroughly enjoyed! Despite not being a massive fan of fish or seafood, I would more than happily order both the salmon and the calamari – both were deliciously fresh and full of flavour.”
“The highlight of the afternoon, though, was without a doubt the main course. A succulent grilled tomahawk steak, served with roasted Piccolo tomatoes, Koffmann chips and Béarnaise and peppercorn sauces. The steak was beautifully tender and flavoursome, and even the more well done slices were not at all dry and retained all of juices and that gorgeous flavour. We were also served a number of sides, including crispy onion rings, gratin dauphinois, and some delicious garlic & red chilli buttered spinach, which paired beautifully with the meat.”
“To finish the meal was a luxurious trio of desserts. We had a classic sticky toffee pudding, served with vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce, a slice of baked New York cheesecake topped with blueberries and a blueberry sauce, and finally, vanilla set cream with a raspberry coulis. All of the desserts were beautifully light, ending the afternoon on a delightfully sweet note.
Our afternoon at Marco’s was magnificent, supplying a great, relaxed atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff, gorgeous live music, a stunning view of the city, and, of course, some absolutely amazing food.”

This sounds delicious, Suzie, I’d love to try the food but it’s a bit too far away. 🇬🇧❤️
If you ever come over to Birmingham you should give it a try, John!
I might be a while getting there, Suzie. 😂❤️🇬🇧
Looks delicious
Apparently it was – I received a message after my friend had visited saying ‘Well that was awesome.’ Can’t wait to go and try it myself!
