Daily Gratitude Challenge Day 17: Things That Make You Smile

In an effort to inject some positivity into my daily mindset and the online world I have created a Daily Gratitude Challenge and I am inviting everyone to participate. If you have missed my introductory post that explains the challenge and maps out the daily post schedule, visit here.

Daily Gratitude Challenge What makes you smile

Day 17 of the Daily Gratitude Challenge is all about what makes you smile.

Things That Make Me Smile

What makes you smile

Friday night. It’s my favourite time of the week – the whole weekend is ahead and there’s nothing to do but curl up and watch a movie.

A beautiful morning. I’m very lucky to live next to a park and the sight of that on a glorious day is great for the soul.

The opening few seconds of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing – it brings on a million happy memories.

Getting positive feedback or an unexpected thank you.

The sight of a Sunday roast. I love Sundays.

Finding money in the pocket of clothes I am just about to wash.

Checking into a hotel. The travel is over and the sightseeing can begin!

Freshly baked bread. With butter. And cheese.

Seeing my family and friends happy in what they are doing and achieving the goals they have set for themselves.

The opening credits of a blockbuster movie that you have waited for. The rest of the film may be poor, but the anticipation of the movie itself always makes me smile.

Winning at anything. It’s rare, but I get a kick out of coming first in a pub quiz, or winning some money on the lottery.

Karaoke. There aren’t many people who will go to karaoke with me but when I get the chance it’s fabulous (although perhaps not as fabulous for those who have to listen to me).

Trying a new recipe and it actually working.

A sudden and unexpected increase of something at work. I always have a big smile on my face if I check client stats to see a sudden overnight boom on a post.

When the cat has been told ‘no’ he retreats to his couch (his own couch, I might add) in a sulk, sitting very pointedly with his back to us and occasionally looking over with an angry expression just to make it clear that he’s annoyed.

Karma. I often find that revenge isn’t worth the effort, as karma often steps in. Not a positive thing, but I can’t help but feel smug when it does.
